SKU, short for Stock Keeping Unit, is a unique code assigned to a product to identify it. It helps you to keep track of your inventory.
You can develop your own system for assigning SKUs to your products, but make sure it is consistent and recognizable.
A good SKU is understandable by humans and includes all specific details about the product, like size and colour.
Examples of SKUs:
- A paperback edition of the first book of the Lord of the Rings trilogy could have this SKU: LOTR-1-PB
- A pair of black Nike Pegasus running shoes size 43 could have this SKU: NIKE-PEG-BL-43
You can add an SKU to a product via the individual product page in the Product list in your Online Shop dashboard. Note that if you have variants of a product, you'll need to add SKUs for each variant in the variant overview.
