To open your blog in your browser, type the URL you chose when you created the blog. In this example blog.example.com.
1 - The blog interface
Here you can see the different headers and texts you chose during the setup. At the top the Blog Name, and the About the blog text. In the menu to the right the About me text and a list of the Categories you created. Below, a list with your Previous Posts (if this is your first visit, this will be empty) and below this a login form.
Note: If you set View the blog to No when setting the anonymous user’s permissions, a login form will have to be filled in before viewing the blog.
2 - Logging in
- Open the blog in your browser, by typing the URL you chose when you created the blog.
- To create the first post, log in with the email and password for the first user you created.
If you already created more than one user, make sure you log in with a user that already have the New message permission.
Tip: If you don't remember the URL, you can always find a link to your blog, through the Control Panel. Just log on your Control Panel, click Blog, anc click the location for your blog.
If you mark Remember you will automatically be logged in as this user.
3 - Posting a message
When logged in with a user granted the New message permission you will see a link in the upper right corner with the text Create new post. Click this to enter the new post page.
Here fill in the Subject of your message, in this example This is the subject. Then choose which Category the message should be placed in. Finally write the Body of the message (in this example This is the message).
In the body you have different options for formatting text and inserting content.
When your message is done click either Preview or Submit. By clicking Preview you will see a preview before saving the message in the blog. A preview of the message could look like this:
Click Edit to go back and edit your message, or Submit to save it to the blog.
4 - Uploading images and files
- Click the Insert image icon, in the new post tool bar.
- Select Single or Multiple.
- Click Browse to select the files you want to upload.
When clicking the Insert image icon while making a new message, a dialog opens.
Here, you can either choose to upload a single image, or upload more images to your Blog. The permitted image file types are JPEG,GIF and PNG. The image has to be below 12 MB and 6 megapixels.
When clicking Browse, another dialog opens.
You can attach the following files:
.doc .xls .ppt .odt .ods .odp .txt .pdf
The max file size is 12 MB
5 - Adding a comment to a message
Click the Comments (x) button (x is the number of comments posted) to add a comment.
Note: When submitting a comment you will not be able to upload pictures and/or files, but you can use the rest of the features (bold, italic etc.).
6 - Inviting friends, colleagues, family etc.
- Log on your blog, via the front page for your published blog.
- Click Invite Friends
Note: You need to have the permission Add friends first, to be able to invite new users. You will see the option Invite Friends in the bottom of the menu, if you have this permission.
- In the new window, fill in the email and name for the people you want to invite to the blog.
- Next, write a message to the ones you want to invite.
- Choose the permissions you want the invited users to have with the checkboxes.
- Click Send
- An e-mail with a link will be sent to each of the invited users. When clicking the link in the email, they will be able to create a new user.
Note: If a person you invite already has a user on a blog on your domain, he/she will be able to log in using the password from the other blog(s).
Your invited friends
There is another link below the Invite friends link; View friends, click this to see the users that have joined your blog through the link you sent them.
Also, you will be able to see the users that have been joined through others than you.
7 - Editing your profile
When logged in, click Edit below your username, to change your username, e-mail or password.
To change anything you must type your current password. Click Submit when you are done.
