All domains with a hosting plan at one.com have SSL enabled by default, so HTTP and HTTPS will both work. Installing the Really Simple SSL plugin ensures that your website visitors always use the secured HTTPS. In this guide, we show you how to do this.
Tip: You don't need to upgrade to the Pro version of this plugin in order to use SSL. Find out more about the plugin on the official WordPress.org website.
- Step 1 - Log into WordPress
- Step 2 - Go to Plugins
- Step 3 - Install the Really Simple SSL plugin
- Step 4 - Activate the plugin
- Step 5 - Done!
Step 1 - Log into WordPress
Access the WP Admin from the WordPress section in the one.com Control Panel or via your login page.
- Log into the one.com Control Panel.
- Click on the WordPress tile.
- Click WP Admin for the blog that you want to manage.
Tip: You can also access your blog via the login page of your WordPress installation. Simply add /wp-admin after the location of your blog, for example: blog.one-example.com/wp-admin.
Step 2 - Go to Plugins
- In your WP Admin, click Plugins in the menu to the left.
- Click Add New at the top of your screen.
Step 3 - Install the Really Simple SSL plugin
- Type in Really Simple SSL in the search field.
- Click Install now to install the plugin.
Step 4 - Activate the plugin
Click Activate SSL to activate the plugin and start serving your WordPress site via HTTPS.
Note: If you get an error that SSL has not been detected, please contact our support to check if SSL is properly enabled for your domain.
Step 5 - Done!
All done! Open your site in your browser and check if you see the secured padlock.
