The Contacts section in your Website Builder dashboard organises your customer information in one place. Each contact is a customer profile that lists all the information you need to ensure good communication with your customers. These profiles allow you to keep track of each customer's order history, contact details, messages, and more.
This guide gives an overview of the data in this section and how to manage it.

What are "Contacts"?
The "Contacts" section in your Website Builder dashboard lists your customer profiles. These profiles are divided into two groups: Customers and Leads.
When someone places an order in your Online Shop, their details are automatically saved as a customer file in the "Contacts" section. These contacts are labelled as Customers.
If you manually create a contact, the contact will be labelled as a Lead. These are potential customers who have not yet purchased something from your Online Shop. This could be people who contact you via phone or email to inquire about your products before placing an order in your shop.
A Lead contact will automatically be created if a customer writes to you via a contact form on your website.
You can turn a Lead contact into a Customer contact by creating an order for them in the Online Shop dashboard.
Individual contact detail pages
You can access the Contacts section via the left-side menu in your Website Builder dashboard.
Click on a customer file to see all the details. Here, you'll see the order history, activity log, contact's address, email address, phone number, and more. On each contact page, you can:
- Edit contact details: You can change the customer's details, such as name and address. Click the blue "Edit" dropdown in the "Contact" box on the right side of the screen.
- Add labels: You can add descriptive words as labels to a contact to categorise it. This makes it easier to filter contacts in the overview if you want to find something specific. You can add a label by clicking "Add+" in the "Label" box.
- Send a message to the customer: Go to "Send message" at the top-right side of the page to email the customer.
- Create a draft order: Click the "Create new order" button to draft a customer order request.
- Add notes: You can add any relevant information to the activity log. Write your text in the input field and click "Add" to the right of it.
- Manage marketing consent: If you send marketing communication, you are legally obliged to collect consent from each of your customers before you send them anything. The marketing consent box allows you to manage and track each customer's consent status. We recommend reading our separate guide on managing marketing consent in Website Builder and Online Shop to learn how this feature works.
Note: The email address is the fixed point of a contact. This means that if the contact places a new order in your shop with a different address, but uses the same email address, the order and the attached details will still be synced to that contact's list of details. However, if you manually edit any details in the Online Shop admin, the information for that contact will be locked and new orders using different details will not be synched.
