Connecting your one.com domain to Google Workspace requires updating your DNS settings. This guide explains the key steps involved to help you configure everything. While the process may seem technical, it is designed to be manageable.
- Step 1 - Go to your DNS settings
- Step 2 - Go to MX
- Step 3 - Add MX records
- Step 4 - Add SPF record
- Things to have in mind
Step 1 - Go to your DNS settings
Log in to your one.com Control Panel and navigate to the DNS settings in the bottom-right corner.
Step 2 - Go to MX
After accessing your DNS settings, click on DNS records. A list of options for different DNS settings will appear. Select the one labeled MX.
- Click on DNS records.
- Click on MX.
Step 3 - Add MX records
Once you have located where to add your MX records, it's time to enter them.
The setup consists of five separate MX records, which you will add one by one.
These are the MX records from Google Workspace:
Mail provider's mail server | Priority |
ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM | 1 |
ALT1.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM | 5 |
ALT2.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM | 5 |
ALT3.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM | 10 |
ALT4.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM | 10 |
Example: Here’s an example of how to add ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM 1 correctly:
Under the Mail provider’s mail server, enter ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM, and under Priority, enter the number 1. Then click Create record
Once you have created the record, it will appear under Personal DNS settings.
Proceed with adding the rest of the records until all five are listed under your Personal DNS settings. Once all are added, it should look like this:
Step 4 - Add SPF record
The last record to add is an SPF record. SPF helps prevent spammers from using an email address on your domain as their sender address, a practice known as email spoofing. This record is added using the DNS record option labelled TXT.
This is the SPF record from Google Workspace:
Value |
v=spf1 include:_spf.google.com include:_custspf.one.com ~all |
- Click on TXT.
- Add v=spf1 include:_spf.google.com include:_custspf.one.com ~all under Value.
- Click on Create record.
Note: DNS record changes may take up to 90 minutes to take effect.
Things to have in mind
- When switching to Google Workspace email servers, you will be disconnected from our mail servers. This means you can no longer send and receive emails via our Webmail.
- We strongly recommend backing up your email before switching to new email servers.
- Once you switch to email servers outside of one.com, our Support team will no longer be able to assist you with email-related issues.
- Google Workspace DNS settings may change or be adjusted at any time. To ensure you have the correct and up-to-date settings, please refer to Google's official page about Google Workspace.
- After adding Google's DNS records through our Control Panel, follow Google's guidelines for proper configuration.
