How do I add the Termly consent banner to my WordPress website?

You can install Termly's consent banner to your WordPress website with a free plugin. With the plugin, you can also manage many of the Termly features directly in your WP Admin. Below we will show you how to install the plugin and add the consent banner to your WordPress website in a few simple steps.

Step 1 - Install the plugin

You can install Termly’s plugin directly in your WordPress dashboard:

  1. Log in to your WP Admin.
  2. Click Plugins > Add New Plugin.

  1. Type "Termly" in the search bar to find a plugin called "Termly – GDPR/CCPA Cookie Consent Banner".
  2. Click Install now to install the plugin.

3. After the installation is finished, click the Activate button to activate the plugin.


Step 2 - Find your API key

You can connect the plugin to your Termly account with an API key, which you can find in the Termly dashboard.

  1. Log in to the one.com Control Panel.
  2. Click Termly under Advanced Settings.

3. Click the blue Go to Termly button. If you do not have a Termly subscription yet, you can purchase it on this page.

4. In the Termly dashboard, click Settings and API Key. Copy the key by clicking Copy to clipboard.

Step 3 - Connect your Termly account

1. Go back to WP Admin and click Termly in the left-hand menu.

2. ​Paste your API key in the field and click Save API Key to connect the plugin with your Termly account.

Step 4 - Enable the consent banner on your website

After you have connected your Termly account with the plugin, you can scan your website for cookies and install the consent banner in just a few clicks.

1. Click Site Scan in the left hand menu. Then, click Scan now to run a cookie scan on your website.

2. Click Banner Settings in the left hand menu. Enable the consent banner on your website by sliding the Consent banner toggle in the top right corner. New visitors arriving to your website will now see the consent banner.

3. If you want to change your consent banner’s style, click the Customize Banner button to go to the Termly dashboard, where you can change your banner’s colours, font and more.
