How do I fix 404 errors caused by permalinks in WordPress?

A 404 error tells you that the page or file you are trying to open can't be found. If you have many 404 errors on your WordPress site, it may be due to an issue with your .htaccess file. You can fix this by updating your permalinks - follow the steps below.

  1. Log in to WP Admin.
  2. Click Settings > Permalinks in the menu on the left.
  3. Click Save Changes at the bottom of the page.
  4. Click Purge Performance Cache at the top of the screen, if this plugin is activated for your site. Do the same for other caching plugins you may have.
