Announcements – How to create banners and pop-ups in Website Builder

Announcements in Website Builder enable you to highlight important information on your website, such as special offers, news, or upcoming events. They consist of two types of elements: banners and pop-ups

A banner appears at the top of your website and is visible to all visitors, while a pop-up appears as a small window over your page content.

You can create, schedule, and manage all announcements from the Marketing > Announcements section of your Website Builder dashboard.

Accessing the announcements

  1. Open your Website Builder dashboard.
  2. Click Marketing in the left-hand navigation bar.
  3. Under Marketing & SEO, go to Announcements.

Announcements overview

The Announcements page is divided into two sections: Banner and Pop-ups. Once you have created announcements, you'll be able to view them here, and they will be displayed in a table format with the following information:

  • Name: This is the name you assign to your announcement (for pop-ups). The banner is always titled "Banner" since only one can exist.
  • Duration/Visibility: Scheduled time for display, or "Always active" if no schedule is set.
  • Status: Shows whether the announcement is Hidden (draft) or Visible on your live site.
  • Settings (three dots): Options to Edit, Duplicate (Pop-ups only), or Delete your announcement.

Creating and managing a banner

  1. Click the Add banner button on the Announcements overview page.

  2. Set Visibility to On to publish the announcement, or Off to save it as a draft.
  3. Add your text and select a background colour.
  4. Optionally, activate the Button toggle if you want your banner to include a button. Then enter the button text, select a style, and set a link action.
  5. Choose display settings:
    • Closable - gives your visitor the option to close the banner.
    • Show on every visit - shows the announcement each time a visitor lands on the website or selected pages.
    • Schedule visibility - set a start and end date/time to control when an announcement is active.
  6. Select where you want to show it:
    • Entire website
    • Selected pages
  7. Click the Publish button at the bottom when you are done.

  2. Enter pop-up name, headline, body text, button text and style, and link action.
  3. Choose the Design & Layout. Optionally, you can add an image.
  4. Configure display settings and visibility (same as for the banner).

Only one pop-up displays at a time. If multiple pop-ups qualify, they show sequentially after the previous one is closed.

Editing, duplicating, and deleting announcements

Navigate to the Announcements overview and click on the Settings icon with the three dots next to an existing announcement. Then, you can select from these options:

  • Edit: Opens the announcement for modification.
  • Duplicate (Pop-ups only): Creates a copy named "Original Name (2)". Subsequent copies automatically increase the number.
  • Delete: Click Delete, confirm in the modal, and a success message will be shown if the announcement was successfully removed.

Limitations

These are the limitations for creating announcements.

  • Banner: Only one banner is allowed per website.
  • Pop-ups: Basic or Mini Website Builder plan users are limited to one pop-up, while users on the Starter or Business plan and higher can create up to 20, allowing for more flexibility.
