How do I connect my domain to Shopify?

Want to connect your Shopify online store to your domain with one.com? No problem. At one.com, you can easily set up the connection manually through your DNS settings. In this guide, we’ll show you how you create the DNS records needed to connect to Shopify.

As Shopify is a third-party product, the requirements for connecting their e-commerce platform to a domain with another provider might be subject to change. Therefore, make sure to double-check the DNS specifications in Shopify’s own guide in addition to following the steps below.

Step 1 - In your Control Panel go to DNS settings > DNS records

Before you start, please make sure that DNSSEC is deactivated for your domain. Shopify does not support DNSSEC, so if it's on, your configuration won't work. You can see how to check your DNSSEC status and deactivate it if necessary in our guide on DNSSEC.

  1. Log in to your one.com Control Panel.
  2. Scroll down to Advanced settings and click on DNS settings.
  3. Go to the DNS records tab near the top of your screen. Here, you can create the needed DNS records.

Step 2 - Create the A record

  1. Choose A in the options just below Create new record.
  2. Leave the Hostname field empty.
  3. In the field Will point to, you need to enter the Shopify IPv4 address: 23.227.38.65
  4. Leave the TTL field empty.
  5. Click the Create record button.

You can only have one custom record for each location. This means that if you already have an A record (with nothing in the hostname field) that points to a different IP, you’ll need to remove this before connecting to Shopify. This also applies to the following AAAA and CNAME record.

Step 3 - Create the AAAA record

  1. Choose AAAA in the options just below Create new record.
  2. Leave the Hostname field empty.
  3. In the field Will point to, you need to enter the Shopify IPv6 address: 2620:0127:f00f:5::
  4. Leave the TTL field empty.
  5. Click the Create record button.

Step 4 - Create the CNAME record

  1. Choose CNAME in the options just below Create new record.
  2. In the Hostname field, enter: www
  3. In the field Is an alias of, enter the Shopify address: shops.myshopify.com
Do not add the period at the end of the domain. Our system will automatically add it for you.
  4. Leave the TTL field empty.
  5. Click the Create record button.

Step 5 - Done!

That’s it! Within 90 minutes the connection should be established. Remember that you also need to verify the domain and the connection in your Shopify dashboard. You can find more information on how to do this in Shopify’s own guide.
