Want to connect your Shopify online store to your domain with one.com? No problem. At one.com, you can easily set up the connection manually through your DNS settings. In this guide, we’ll show you how you create the DNS records needed to connect to Shopify.
Note: As Shopify is a third-party product, the requirements for connecting their e-commerce platform to a domain with another provider might be subject to change. Therefore, make sure to double-check the DNS specifications in Shopify’s own guide in addition to following the steps below.
- Step 1 - Log into your one.com control panel
- Step 2 - Go to DNS records
- Step 3 - Create the A record
- Step 4 - Create the CNAME record
- Step 5 - Done!
Step 1 - Log into your one.com control panel
- Log into your one.com control panel.
- Scroll down to Advanced settings and click on DNS settings.
Step 2 - Go to DNS records
Go to the DNS records tab near the top of your screen.
Step 3 - Create the A record
- Choose A in the options just below Create new record.
- Leave the Hostname field empty.
- In the field Will point to, you need to enter the Shopify IP address: 23.227.38.65
- Leave the TTL field empty.
- Click Create record
Note: You can only have one custom record for each location. This means that if you already have an A record (with nothing in the hostname field) that points to a different IP, you’ll need to remove this before connecting to Shopify. This also goes for the following CNAME record.
Step 4 - Create the CNAME record
- Choose CNAME in the options just below Create new record.
- In the Hostname field, enter www
- In the field Is an alias of, enter the Shopify address shops.myshopify.com
- Leave the TTL field empty.
- Click Create record
Step 5 - Done!
That’s it! Within 90 minutes the connection should be established. Remember that you also need to verify the domain and the connection in your Shopify dashboard. You can find more information on how to do this in Shopify’s own guide.
