You can connect your Wix website to your domain at one.com. By default, there are two ways of doing this:
A) By changing the nameservers (not recommended)
B) By pointing the domain to your Wix site via your DNS settings.
If you choose to use other nameservers than ours, the services on your web space – such as your email - will stop working. Because of this, we don't recommend using the first option. However, if you still want to connect your Wix site this way, then please check out our guide on how to change your nameservers instead.
In this guide, we'll show you how to connect your domain to Wix using the pointing method (option B).
- Step 1 - Connect your domain in your Wix account dashboard
- Step 2 - Log in to your one.com control panel
- Step 3 - Go to DNS records
- Step 4 - Create the CNAME record
- Step 5 - Create the A record
- Step 6 - Done!
Step 1 - Connect your domain in your Wix account dashboard
Before creating the relevant records with us, you’ll need to connect your domain in the Wix dashboard and find your unique DNS record values. You can find more information on how to do this in Wix’s own guide.
Follow the instructions until you get to the DNS specifications, as shown in the screenshot below. Keep this page open while you go through the next steps in this guide.
Note: Since Wix is a third-party product, the requirements for connecting a Wix website to an external domain might change. Make sure to double-check the DNS specifications in Wix’s own guide before following the steps below.
Step 2 - Log in to your one.com control panel
- Log in to your one.com control panel.
- Scroll down to Advanced settings and click on DNS settings.
Step 3 - Go to DNS records
Go to the DNS records tab near the top of your screen.
Step 4 - Create the CNAME record
Start by creating the CNAME record.
- Choose CNAME in the options below Create new record.
- In the Hostname field, enter www
- In the field Is an alias of, enter the text that you see under “value” for the CNAME in your Wix settings (as shown in the screenshot from step 1). In our example below, we've entered www66.wixdns.net, but your value might have a different number.
- Leave the TTL field empty.
- Click Create record.
Step 5 - Create the A record
- Choose A in the options below Create new record.
- Leave the Hostname field empty.
- In the field Will point to, enter the Wix IP address you see under “value” for the A record in your Wix settings. It should be a string of numbers, as shown in the screenshot below.
- Leave the TTL field empty.
- Click Create record.
Step 6 - Done!
That’s it! The DNS connection should work within 90 minutes. However, please note that it may take up to 48 hours for the domain to connect to Wix fully.
