When will the migration take place?
We will start migrating sites in late September 2022. We cannot say precisely when each customer will be migrated, but you will receive an email with a notification no later than the day before your site is due to be migrated. Once the migration is completed, you will receive an email about this.
Is there anything I need to do before the migration?
one.com will handle the migration for you, but you can help us ensure a smooth process by logging in to your SimpleSite account beforehand and checking that your email address and primary data are up to date and correct.
Will I need to confirm the migration?
No, this won't be necessary. However, the first time you log in to the one.com control panel after the migration, you will be asked to confirm that your contact information is correct.
How do I log in to one.com?
When the migration has been completed, you will receive a welcome email with a link to create a password and instructions on how to log in at one.com. You can then log in to the one.com control panel with your email address as username. If you've already received the email and chosen a password, you can log in here:
Note: It is not possible to sign in to one.com using your Facebook login. You may only use the username (your contact email address) and your chosen password.
Why do I see two sets of owner details in the control panel?
If you have a domain (a simple website name, such as yourdomain.com), you might see two sets of owner details in the control panel when you log in. One will be for the domain name and the other for the hosting subscription (the webspace).
In short, the domain name and the hosting subscription are two separate legal entities; hence they each need to have their own set of owner details. In many cases, these details are identical, but they can also be different. SimpleSite did not provide the option to see your domain details, but this will now be possible in cases where one.com is the registrar of your domain.
Tip: You can read more about the difference between the domain owner and the subscription owner in our comprehensive guide.
What will happen to my website name (domain)?
Your website name (domain) will be moved to one.com along with the rest of your subscription. This will include subdomain names from SimpleSite (yourdomain.simplesite.com) and path-style domain names (simplesite.com/yourdomain).
If one.com is made the registrar of your domain (subdomains and path-style domains excluded), you'll pay the domain fee through one.com after the migration. Subdomains and path-style domains will be hosted free of charge. If you use an external registrar, you can continue to pay for the domain via this provider.
What if I'm already a customer with one.com?
If you have an existing subscription with one.com, it will not be affected when your SimpleSite subscription is migrated to us. Your SimpleSite domain and website will get a separate subscription.
However, suppose the email address you use to sign in to your SimpleSite account is the same address you use when you sign in to your one.com control panel. In that case, your migrated subscription will be visible in the same control panel as your existing domains.
It might be a good idea to collect all your domains on one account and connect them to one larger hosting plan. In most cases, this will reduce the cost of your hosting bill, and you'll also get access to more features and benefits on all your domains. You can change your hosting plan via the control panel anytime you want, but if you need help finding out which plan best suits your needs, you're more than welcome to get in touch with our support.
What should I do if I don't want to be migrated to one.com?
If you prefer not to be migrated, please delete your subscription from SimpleSite before the date indicated in the email we sent you.
You can, of course, also choose not to renew your subscription after you've been migrated to one.com.
Who should I contact in case I have questions?
If you have questions about the migration or any of one.com's products, please get in touch with one.com's support. You can always reach one.com support via chat or email.
For questions about SimpleSite's products and potential operational matters, please reach out to SimpleSite support.
Which plan will I get?
All SimpleSite customers will have their subscriptions converted to one of our hosting plans and possibly one of the Website Builder plan tiers, Premium or Business + Ecommerce. The latter depends on the number of pages and features on the website. We will make sure to match your SimpleSite subscription to the plan nearest to it.
You will be informed about your plan in the emails that you will receive from SimpleSite and us. If you have any questions about your subscription, feel free to contact our support.
Tip: You can read more about our main hosting plans on the one.com website. For a short overview of our Website Builder plan tiers and links to extended descriptions, please see our general guide on Website Builder.
Will my price change?
That depends on which subscription you had with SimpleSite and which plan you'll have with us. We'll make sure to include a discount on your first invoice from us if your price turns out to be a bit higher than it was with SimpleSite. We’ll provide details about your plan and its price in the email you’ll receive after successful migration.
For the domains themselves, one.com's standard prices for domain renewals will apply. You can find more information about the pricing of one.com plans on the website. Here, you can also see the prices for domain renewals.
Will I receive a new invoice from one.com?
You will receive your first invoice from one.com 60 days before the renewal date for your subscription. The exact renewal date will be included in an email, which we'll send you once your website has been successfully migrated.
Please note that at one.com, it is only possible to renew your subscription annually and for one year at a time. If you have previously renewed your subscription monthly or quarterly, we will transition you into an annual scheme. We will set up an individual transition plan for you, ensuring that you are billed at an appropriate time and with no extra costs beyond your hosting plan or what you have already paid.
Where can I find a copy of my old invoice?
If you want a copy of an old invoice, you must get it via SimpleSite before the migration. If you have any questions about this, please get in touch with SimpleSite Support.
What will happen to my prepaid credits from SimpleSite?
If you've made a pre-payment at SimpleSite, you won’t get an invoice from one.com until 60 days before the end of the period you've paid for.
I've just logged in to the control panel for the first time - where do I edit my website?
Your subscription with one.com allows you to access and manage more features than just your website, and all of these will be available via the coloured tiles you see when you log into the control panel. You can access your Website Builder - the editing tool for your website - like this:
- Locate the Website Builder tile and click Go to Website Builder.
- You will now see the Website Builder dashboard. Click the blue Edit site button near the top of the page to go to the editor.
Should I expect any downtime during the migration?
There will not be any downtime on the website during the migration. However, you'll be unable to make changes to your site in the SimpleSite website builder while the migration takes place. Once the migration starts, you will see a message about this in the SimpleSite website builder.
For the average customer, the whole migration process should be done within a few hours.
Where can I find more information on the one.com Website Builder?
We have an extensive collection of online guides covering Website Builder on the one.com website. You'll find them in the Website Builder section of our help centre.
If you have specific questions about feature differences, please see this separate guide.
If you have a question not covered in one of these guides, please don't hesitate to contact our support.
I have several websites with SimpleSite - will they all be migrated to one.com simultaneously?
No, unfortunately not. Due to the complexity of the migration process, we need to migrate websites separately.
However, after the migration, you're welcome to contact our support if you want to change your hosting plans or group your domains into one plan or account.
Are there any features that are not supported in the Website Builder?
There are a few features that are not supported in the one.com Website Builder, as well as some that differ slightly from how they were at SimpleSite. You can find a list of features and detailed descriptions in our separate guide on this topic.
Will the name of my website stay the same?
Yes, it will. If you have a simple domain name (for example, yourdomain.com), this will not change. Your URL (web address) will also stay the same.
If you have a name like simplesite.com/name, it will be given a different structure in your control panel. So, let's say you have simplesite.com/name. In your control panel, it will appear as name.simplesite.com. Your web address, however, will not change - it will continue to show simplesite.com/name.
Similarly, if you have name.simplesite.com, it will show as name.simplesite.com in both the control panel and your web address.
Will my website look the same after the migration?
Yes, it will. The only things that will be different are how you edit the website and how some parts are built up. Some features in the SimpleSite website builder will not be supported at one.com. Still, content that relies on these functions will be recreated using the components that are available in the one.com Website Builder.
You can read more about specific feature gaps in our separate guide on this.
