You can sell gift cards as products in your one.com Online Shop. Gift cards are digital vouchers representing an amount of money that can be used freely online or in-store.
This guide will show you how to create and manage gift cards in the Online Shop administration. It'll also explain what happens when someone buys a gift card in your shop and how a customer can redeem a gift card.

Add a gift card to your Online Shop
You can add a gift card as a new product.
- Go to your Online Shop administration.
- Click Gift cards in the menu on the left and go to Gift card list.
- Click the blue Add gift card button.
- Enter the details for your gift card, such as a name, description, image, validity and amount.
- Click Save at the bottom of the screen when you're done.
Business + E-commerce customers can add more options with different amounts under the same gift card. If you have a smaller plan, you can add gift cards with different prices that your customers can choose from.
Note: In previous versions of the Online Shop, it was possible to create more amounts by ticking a box to create variants inside the gift card settings. In the current version, you can create more than one gift card amount by adding them under Amount in each gift card or by adding several gift cards.
Manage gift cards in your Online Shop
Once you have sold a gift card or refunded payment to a gift card, you can manage them under Sales.
- Go to your Online Shop administration.
- Click Gift cards in the menu on the left and then Sales.
- Here, you can see all the gift cards that have been issued and the balance on each gift card. The first number in the balance indicates how much is left of the total amount, shown in the second number. So, for example, if it says €20,00/€50,00, then this means that the holder of the gift card has used €30,00 so far and thus has €20,00 left.
Note: It's not possible to configure SKU or stock level on gift cards.
Purchasing a gift card
When customers purchase a gift card in your shop, they will first receive an order confirmation via email. Then, once the order has been marked as paid in the Online Shop administration, the actual gift card will be sent via email.
If you need to resend the order confirmation e-mail or the gift card, you can always do this from the order page inside the Online Shop administration. Go to Orders and Current, select the order, and scroll down to Order history to see the available options.
How a customer uses a gift card in your shop
When a customer wants to use a gift card, the gift card code can be added to an order at the checkout in your shop. The customer needs to enter the code in the field Gift card or discount code at the top of the checkout page, and then the amount on the gift card will automatically be retracted from the total amount on the order.
Once a gift card has been redeemed, its balance will automatically be adjusted in the Sales overview in your Online Shop administration under Gift cards.
Redeem a gift card manually
You can also redeem a gift card manually in the Online Shop administration. This can be useful if, for example, you also have a physical shop and want to accept gift cards as payment there.
- Go to your Online Shop administration.
- Click Gift cards in the menu on the left and then Sales.
- Click on the three-dot icon next to the relevant gift card and select Redeem in the menu that appears.
- Enter the amount that must be redeemed, and click Redeem.
- The balance on the gift card number in the overview will now be updated.
Refund payment as a gift card
You can also refund any order as a gift card. That way, you can not only refund a gift card that has been used as payment for an order, but you can also offer a gift card as an alternative if your customer wants to use the money for a different purchase at a later point.
- Go to your Online Shop administration.
- Click Orders in the menu on the left and then Current.
- Select the order you want to refund.
- In the top-right corner, click the More actions button and select Refund.
- Enter the amount that you want to refund.
- Tick the Refund as gift card box. Additionally, you can choose to send the customer notification via email for this and if you want to put the item back in stock.
- Click Refund.
Once the refund has been processed, the customer will receive the gift card via the email address they entered in their order details.
