What is Maintenance Mode?
You have created and published your first WordPress post and are ready to share your website with the world, but all you see online is "Something is happening. Check in later!". This means that Maintenance Mode is active on your site. This article tells you how to customise or deactivate it in just a few clicks.
Maintenance Mode is a WordPress feature which makes your website private when you're editing it. It creates a landing page that tells the visitors your website is under construction. Maintenance Mode's Pro version is included in Managed WP, and it gives you more options for customising the landing page.

How to deactivate Maintenance Mode on your website
- Go to your WP Admin.
- In the left-hand menu, click one.com → Utility → Maintenance Mode.
- Click the Deactivate button at the top of the Maintenance Mode page.
- If you're using Performance Cache, clear it by clicking Clear Performance Cache in the menu at the top.
- Done! Your website is now online for everyone to see.
How to customise the look of your maintenance page
With a few clicks, you can change the design and content of your maintenance page, and add social media links to it.
- Go to your WP Admin.
- In the left-hand menu, click one.com → Utility → Maintenance Mode.
- Click the tiles under Options to change the appearance, content and settings of your maintenance page.
- On each option page, remember to click the Save button at the bottom of the page if you made changes.
- If you're using Performance Cache, clear it by clicking Clear Performance Cache in the menu at the top to show the updated maintenance page online.
- Done! Your new maintenance page is now online for everyone to see.

How to install Maintenance Mode
If you can't see Maintenance Mode in the one.com plugin under Utility, it means that this feature is not yet installed or activated for your WordPress site. You can install it for free in the one.com plugin:
- In WP Admin, click one.com > WordPress products > Marketplace.
- Under Website Creation, click one.com Maintenance Mode.
- On the next page, click Install.
- Once the installation is finished, click Activate.
- Click Utility > Maintenance Mode in the side menu to activate the maintenance page and to manage its settings.
