Step 1 - Click WordPress in the Control Panel
Log in to your one.com Control Panel and click WordPress.
Step 2 - Click New installation
-
Click New installation to create a new WordPress installation on your domain.
Tip: If you already have a 1-click installation, this page will look slightly different. Simply click on "Back to overview" at the top left of your screen and continue.
- Choose your preferred WordPress hosting: You can choose between Standard WordPress hosting, which is included in your plan, and Managed WP, which you can buy as an add-on service.
Step 3 - Select language and location
- Select a language for your website and WP Admin.
- Choose a location for your website. You can place the installation on the main domain (root directory) or on a subdomain.
- Click Install or Next.
Note: If you choose the option Subdomain, another step will be added where you'll be asked to give your subdomain a fitting name.
Step 4 - Start with the onboarding
With our onboarding tool, you can start your new WordPress website quickly and easily. Just answer a few questions, and you will get a website tailored to your needs.
Click on the Get started button.
Step 5 - Enter your WP Admin account details
In this step, you can choose your WP Admin account details. WP Admin is the dashboard where you log in to manage your WordPress website.
- Enter an Admin email address. This will be your primary contact for WordPress, for example, if you forget your password.
- Enter the Username you want to use for logging in to WP Admin. We recommend choosing a personal username instead of a general one. Avoid easy-to-guess usernames such as "admin".
- Choose a secure Password for your username. The bar underneath the password field indicates the strength of the password you have entered.
-
You can activate Advanced Login Protection by clicking the toggle. If you activate it, you can log in to your WP Admin only through the one.com Control Panel, which improves the security of your WordPress website against hackers.
Note: For more information on Advanced Login Protection, check out our guide: What is Advanced Login Protection for WordPress?
- Click Continue.
Step 6 - Choose how you want to create your website
You can either build a website with the help of our AI tool Aida, which can generate a website tailored to your needs complete with texts, or you can build your website yourself. If you choose the latter, you will get an empty WordPress installation with only the one.com plugin activated.
In this guide, we'll show you how to get started quickly by creating a website with Aida.
Step 7 - Choose a name for your website
Now, you need to choose a name and tagline for your WordPress site. You can always change it again later.
- Choose a name for your website: it will be visible in the browser tab.
- Optional: Enter a tagline for your website; it should be a short, catchy phrase that supports your title.
- Click Continue.
Step 8 - Pick a website category
- Type one or more keywords into the search bar.
- Press Enter or click on the magnifying glass to start the search.
- Select a website category by clicking on it. If you want to remove it, click on the x on the right side.
- Click Continue in the bottom.
Step 9 - Choose a theme
Next, you'll need to choose a theme for your website. You can select from our new block themes from our partner SuperbThemes, as well as default WordPress themes. We recommend using the block themes for the best editing experience.
Note: Our older classic themes are still available on the left side, but we will stop supporting these in 2025.
- To preview a theme, hover over it and click Preview.
- You can switch between desktop, tablet, and mobile views.
- If you like the theme, click Select theme to continue.
Step 10 - Select which plugins should be pre-installed
Choose which plugins you'd like to have installed for your new website. The available options depend on your account type.
You can select the ones you want from the following free plugins:
- one.com plugin (required)
- Performance Cache (optional)
- Rank Math (free version, optional)
- Imagify (free version, optional)
- Maintenance Mode (optional)
- Spam Protection (with Managed WP only, optional)
Note: The one.com plugin is mandatory and cannot be deselected.
Step 11 - Generate website texts (optional)
Next, you can choose AI-generated texts tailored to your needs, or demo content. Either way, you can edit the text later. You can also skip this step and only install the standard WordPress content by clicking Use demo content.
In this guide, we'll show you how to use the AI-generated content:
- To create texts with AI, click Continue.
- Click the Choose button.
- Add a few keywords or sentences on the next page. Tell about the main points of your business or project in order to get texts that fit your purpose.
- Click Complete setup.
Step 12 - Your new site is ready
Your new WordPress site is ready! The theme you chose is installed, and your plugins are activated. You are now logged in to your WP Admin and can start customising your site.
