What is Extra email storage?
Extra email storage gives you more space to store emails in your one.com mailbox. Most email and hosting plans include 3 GB of storage per email account. If you need more space, you can add Extra email storage or choose a hosting plan with a higher storage allowance, depending on your subscription.
You can check your email storage usage in Webmail or the one.com Control Panel. The available storage options and how to manage Extra email storage are explained below.

What is Extra email storage?
The storage size of your mailbox determines how many emails and attachments you can keep in your email account. Your available storage depends on your email or hosting plan and whether you have Extra email storage connected to your account.
If you need more storage, you can purchase an Extra email storage add-on.
Note: Storage is measured in megabytes (MB) and gigabytes (GB). 1,000 MB equals 1 GB.
Which storage options do we offer?
Your email storage allowance depends on your one.com subscription. We offer email-only plans for customers who need a domain and email accounts without website hosting, and hosting plans that include webspace and email accounts. Existing customers may also have one of our legacy hosting plans.
Email-only plans
If you only need a domain and email accounts without website hosting, you can choose between Email Essential and Email Unlimited.
| Email plan | Email accounts | Storage per mailbox |
| Email Essential | 5 | 3 GB |
| Email Unlimited | Up to 500 | Up to 200 GB* |
Email Unlimited combines the Email Essential plan with the Unlimited storage add-on. This gives you more storage for your emails without needing a hosting plan.
*Email Unlimited is subject to our Fair Use Policy.
You can find more information on our Email product page.
Hosting plans with email
If you need webspace for a website as well as email accounts, you can choose one of our hosting plans. All current hosting plans include 3 GB of storage per email account.
| Hosting plan | Email accounts | Storage per mailbox |
| Starter | 1 | 3 GB |
| Professional | 5 | 3 GB |
| Business | 15 | 3 GB |
| Max | 25 | 3 GB |
The webspace included in your hosting plan is separate from the 3 GB storage allowance per email account. You can compare the plans on our Hosting product page.
Legacy hosting plans
If you're an existing customer with one of our older hosting plans, your storage allowance may be different. These plans are no longer offered to new customers, but existing subscriptions remain available.
| Legacy plan | Email accounts | Storage per mailbox | Total web and email storage |
| Beginner | Unlimited | 3 GB | 50 GB |
| Explorer | Unlimited | 3 GB | 100 GB |
| Enthusiast | Unlimited | 3 GB | 200 GB |
| Expert | Unlimited | 3 GB | 500 GB |
| Guru | Unlimited | Shared web and email storage | 750 GB |
With the Guru plan, your website files and emails share the total storage allowance of 750 GB.
Extra email storage add-ons
If you need more storage than your current mailbox allows, you can purchase Extra email storage. The available options depend on your subscription.
| Add-on | Storage | Applies to |
| 25 GB | 25 GB of extra storage | One email account |
| 2 x 25 GB | 25 GB of extra storage per account | Two email accounts |
| Unlimited | Unlimited email storage | All email accounts on the domain* |
The Unlimited storage add-on is also included in the current Email Unlimited plan, which combines Email Essential with Unlimited storage.
*Unlimited storage is subject to our Fair Use Policy.
What happens if I use more than 3 GB?
What happens when your mailbox uses more than 3 GB depends on your subscription. Email Unlimited has a higher storage allowance, while the standard mailbox limit for Email Essential and our hosting plans is 3 GB.
If you have a hosting plan with a 3 GB mailbox limit, we will notify you 15 days before renewal if one or more of your mailboxes are using more than 3 GB. This gives you time to free up space.
If your mailbox still exceeds the limit, Extra email storage will automatically be added to your subscription as follows:
- If one email account exceeds 3 GB, we will add 25 GB Extra email storage.
- If two email accounts exceed 3 GB, we will add 2 x 25 GB Extra email storage.
- If three or more email accounts exceed 3 GB, we will add Unlimited storage.
- If one or more email accounts exceed 28 GB, we will also add Unlimited storage.
How can I avoid Extra email storage?
To avoid having Extra email storage added, reduce your mailbox usage to below 3 GB before renewal. If your mailbox is approaching its 3 GB limit, you can free up space by deleting emails you no longer need.
Check your Inbox, Sent folder and other folders for emails with large attachments. You can also empty your Trash folder to free up storage.
If you want to keep important emails, consider making a backup of your emails before deleting them.
How can I purchase and connect Extra email storage?
If Extra email storage is available for your subscription, you can purchase it in the one.com Control Panel under Email, in the settings for an email account, or under My products for your domain.

How can I move Extra email storage to another account?

Where can I check my email storage usage?
You can check how much email storage you're using in the one.com Control Panel or Webmail.
In the one.com Control Panel
Log in to the one.com Control Panel and open Email & Microsoft 365. You can check the Storage usage column for each email account. Your email storage usage is updated once daily.
In Webmail
Log in to Webmail. Your storage usage is shown in the bottom-left corner of the mail page and is updated continuously.
In an email client
You can also check your storage usage in email clients such as Outlook or Apple Mail by right-clicking your inbox and opening Settings.
Note: Email clients may calculate storage usage differently. The amount shown in your email client may therefore differ from the amount displayed in Webmail or the Control Panel.
If you're using more than 3 GB on an account with a 3 GB mailbox limit, a notification will appear in the Control Panel.
How can I make a backup of my emails?
You can back up your emails using an email client such as Outlook, Apple Mail or Thunderbird. First, set up your one.com email account in your preferred email client.
You can find instructions in our Email setup guides.
After setting up your account, follow the instructions for backing up emails in Outlook, Apple Mail or Thunderbird.
You can also create a manual backup in the one.com Control Panel under Hosting settings > Backup & Restore > Email.
Email backups created through Backup & Restore are stored under My Backups. They do not count towards your 3 GB mailbox limit, but they count towards the total storage available in your legacy hosting plan.
