What is changing?
We have changed the structure of our hosting plans to a more simplified approach. Instead of offering many specialised feature packages, we now have a few simple all-in-one plans.
We have developed five plans with different storage and performance levels, ranging from "Beginner" for hobbyists that only need basic features, to our "Guru" plan, tailored for businesses that need a little (or a lot!) extra.
Why are you changing to new plans?
During the past year, we have done an extensive survey to find out what our customers think about One.com and our products, and what we can improve.
One of the things we've learned is that many of our customers struggle to understand our plans and that they don't know which one to choose. Based on this outcome, we've looked into how we could make this easier, and the new plans are the result.
What does this mean for me?
Your current web hosting subscription(s) will be migrated to the new plan that best fits with your current subscription.
The migration will be done gradually over the coming year. When your (main) subscription is approaching renewal, you'll receive an email with more information about your new plan. Of course, you can always choose to migrate to a different plan.
When will my subscription(s) be migrated to the new plan?
Your subscription will be migrated 60 days before renewal. At the same time, you'll receive the yearly renewal invoice with your new subscription and price.
If you host add-on domains with us, it's only when your main domain is up for renewal that you will be migrated to the new plan(s). So, it may be that you still receive a regular renewal invoice, before you get a notification about the upcoming migration.
Can I stay on my old plan?
Until your subscription is up for renewal, nothing changes and you stay on your current plan. When you are getting close to renewal, we will send you more information about your new plan and when your subscription is getting migrated.
It's not possible to stay on your old plan after renewal. We aim to simplify things and make it more transparent what is included in your subscription. Leaving customers on older legacy plans would make things even more complicated.
Can I be migrated to a different plan?
Yes. We have chosen the plan closest to your current subscription. If you prefer a different plan with new functionality, you can select it under Subscriptions in the One.com control panel and switch to it straight away.
If you wish to change to a smaller plan, remember to do this before your subscription has been renewed for the next year. When your subscription is very close to the renewal date, changes need to be done manually by our support.
What will happen to my add-on domains?
With the introduction of the new plans, we will no longer offer "add-on domains" in the same way as we did before. Instead, your add-on domains will become domains without hosting that you can connect to a hosting plan. Once connected, the domain will share the features and performance of your main plan, including extra services, like SiteLock or Premium Mail.
Depending on your plan, you can connect up to 10 domains. If you want to connect more than 10 domains, you need to buy an additional hosting plan.
Unfortunately, this means that you can no longer have unlimited add-on domains. You can, however, park unlimited domains without hosting. These domains don't have any hosting features, but you can redirect them to other websites or "for-sale" listings.
I have more add-on domains than your plans support
If you currently have more than 10 add-on domains and only one domain with webspace, you won't fit any of the new plans. If that is the case, don't worry, we will offer you a special solution.
When your main domain is approaching renewal we will send you an email with more information about the new plans. After this, we will get in touch with you to discuss what your needs are and, based on the outcome, offer a solution that is the best fit for you.
If you don't want to wait until your domain is up for renewal, you are welcome to contact our support, who can get you in touch with the right person.
I have more email accounts than my new plan supports
No worries! You can keep using the number of email accounts you currently have. However, you cannot create additional email accounts unless you are below the maximum accounts allowed on your plan.
So if you currently have 120 accounts on a plan that only supports 100, you need to get below 100 accounts, before you can create a new one.
Will the price of my subscription change?
The price of the new plans is different from our current packages. Depending on what plan fits best with your current feature set, the price can either be lower or higher. You can see your new price on your renewal invoice. On our front page, you can see what the price is per month for all plans.
What are the benefits of fast SSD storage?
SSD drives can access your files much quicker than HDD drives, which tends to make your site run faster, especially if you have a lot of files, like a WordPress site. Of course, many factors are at play when it comes to performance, not just SSD.
During the past year, we have replaced all our servers with SSD drives. Most hosting providers have at least some of the data stored on SSD drives, but few have only SSD drives in their servers, making us one of the fastest WordPress hosting solutions on the market.
What are the benefits of edge-node caching?
During the past years, we have invested in setting up edge nodes in several hubs through Europe, closer to the end-user. Because they are closer to the user, response time and load time is generally faster. We use edge-nodes to cache static content, like for example, images.
Our edge nodes are set up with "Anycast", which allows us to serve the content from multiple locations and allowing the visitor to get the content from the location nearest to them — improving load times especially on sites with many assets, such as pictures.
