This guide is for customers who are being migrated from SimpleSite/123-sites to one.com. All websites will be moved from the SimpleSite/123-sites website builder to the one.com Website Builder. However, as the two building tools are not the same, there will be differences once your website is migrated to the one.com Website Builder: Some features will no longer be accessible, and others may work differently.
In the following article, we'll explain the feature differences and offer alternative solutions in cases where a specific SimpleSite/123-sites feature is no longer supported. For a short introduction to the basic principles of the one.com Website Builder, we recommend reading our guide on the Website Builder layout.
Please note that the following descriptions are indicative and based on the most commonly used SimpleSite versions. If you use a different version, your content may be migrated differently. If a description in this article does not fit your content, please reach out to our support for help.
Note: The migration includes customers from both SimpleSite and 123-sites. These two will collectively be referred to as "SimpleSite" in this FAQ.

Mobile Editor and Mobile View
The one.com Website Builder does not offer the option of editing your website on mobile devices. However, you can edit your site for viewing on mobile devices when you use the Website Builder on a desktop or a laptop. You can read more about the Mobile View option here. You can also choose to turn this specialised view off. The site's desktop version will also be shown on mobile devices if you do that.
After the migration, the Website Builder will generate a specific mobile version of your site. This ensures your site looks as good as possible on mobile devices. Of course, this might mean that the mobile version of your site will look a bit different than it did before the migration.
Video background
Unfortunately, video backgrounds or GIFs are not supported in the one.com Website Builder. There are, however, several options for using images as backgrounds, such as in individual sections or as part of your overall template. We recommend using our video options if you want a video on your site. You can insert a video via the code component or the dedicated video components for YouTube or Vimeo.
Note: The code component and the Vimeo option are only available with the Website Builder tiers Premium and Business + Ecommerce.
Like button
It is not possible to have a clickable Like button shown directly on a site in the Website Builder. However, you can link your chosen social media profiles with our easy-to-use social links component. You can read more about this and how to add it to your site in this guide.
Content requiring Flash Player
As Flash Player has been discontinued, it is, for security reasons, not supported in the Website Builder. Content that requires Flash Player will therefore have to be displayed differently. We recommend that you use the media components available in Website Builder, such as video and image, if you want to reinsert the content on your site.
If you're unsure how you can display your content, please get in touch with our support.
Statistics
one.com has a separate tool for statistics called Website Analytics. You can access this tool via the one.com control panel:
- Go to the Advanced settings tile at the bottom of the page.
- Click Website Analytics to access your data. You'll see statistics from when the site was migrated to one.com.
You can also connect your site to Google Analytics. This can be done in the Website Builder dashboard. You can find more info on how to do this in our separate guide.
Menu
Due to differences in layout and design, the menu (left vertical or horizontal) from the SimpleSite tool will be replaced with a horizontal menu in the one.com Website Builder. The menu will be placed in the header at the top of your site.
If you want to change the menu layout, you can edit the menu by selecting it and clicking on the Edit menu tab that appears.
Music on Page load
This feature will not be supported in the Website Builder. However, you can add music to your site by using the code component. Please see our step-by-step guide for more on how to do this. Ensure you have the autoplay element inserted if you want the music to start automatically and play in the background.
Note: Some browsers, such as Chrome, will automatically mute music despite the presence of the autoplay element in your code.
Blog
As there is no distinct blog function in the Website Builder, the layout of your blog will change, and the process of creating a blog post will also be different.
The page that shows the overview of the blog posts will be converted to the main page, while each blog post will be migrated as subpages to this page. On the main page, the overview of each post will be a box containing several components to display the elements visible in the SimpleSite overview.
The page of the blog post and the corresponding box with the overview for it will be linked via a button component in the box, which contains a link to the page.
If you want to create a new post, you can do it this way:
- Copy the box for the previous post and insert the copy in the desired location on the page. Once you have inserted it, you can alter the details to fit those of the new post.
- Create a new page and write the blog post using a text box. You can find more information on how to create a new page in this guide.
- Link the subpage to the post overview by adding a page link to the button in the box for the new blog post. You can find more information on how to add a link in this guide.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to add comments to a post in the Website Builder. For more information on existing comments, please see the section on comments.
Maps
The SimpleSite Maps component will be converted to a code component in the one.com Website Builder. The code component allows users to insert any custom code on the website, such as from Google Maps or other third-party apps.
You can edit an existing code component by clicking on the component itself and then on the Edit code tab.
If you want to add a new code component, you can do it by selecting Widget and then Code in the menu to the left. Enter the code you want to insert and click Save. The component will then appear on your workspace, where you can adjust its placement on your site.
Tip: If you want to know more about how to embed Google Maps using our dedicated widget for this feature, then check out our step-by-step guide for this.
Poster, Welcome banner and News section
Neither of these features is supported in the Website Builder. However, existing content that relies on them will be converted to corresponding content using the components available in the Website Builder.
For instance, if you have a Poster inserted, this may be converted to an image component. There may also be an additional text box inserted and a button. Together, the elements will create the look of the previous poster, and you can adjust the element by editing each component. In most cases, Welcome banners will be turned into an image component with an overlay of a text component and a button component, where this is relevant.
If you want to insert a new poster or similar content, we recommend starting with a box component or an image and adding additional components.
News section elements will be recreated using box, image and text components. You can edit any of these elements by clicking on the components and selecting Edit image/Edit box/Edit text, depending on which element you want to change. Once you click these tabs, you'll see a floating menu on the right-hand side of the editor, where you'll be presented with the available options for customisation.
Signature and Columns
None of these features is supported in the Website Builder, but content created using them will be rebuilt with the available components in the Website Builder.
In most cases, both elements will be converted into image components with a text component on top of it. You can edit each of these elements by clicking the component and then selecting Edit image or Edit box, depending on which part you want to alter.
Divider, Headline and Right-to-left content
Divider elements will be converted to simple box components. You can read more about boxes and how they work in our guide on container components. Similarly, content created using the Headline feature will be converted to simple text using a text component in the Website Builder.
The Right-to-left content feature is not supported in the Website Builder. However, content that has been created with this feature will be migrated and converted into text boxes that will be placed side by side.
Comments and Guest Book
Existing comments from blog posts will be migrated and retained, but it will not be possible to add new ones. The existing comments will be collected and displayed on one page of your site in Website Builder. This will also be the case for Guest Book content.
As an alternative to these features, we recommend adding a link to an external platform, such as a social media page, and asking visitors to leave a comment there instead. You can read more about social sharing in our guide on how to add social links.
Facebook Login
Unfortunately, it is not possible to sign in to the one.com control panel or the Website Builder with your Facebook login. Both platforms can only be accessed using the login details we sent you via email after the migration. If you're unsure how to do this, you can find more information in our guide on how to access the one.com control panel.
Logo
The Website Builder has a logo component, but it differs from the one used in the SimpleSite editor. Hence, logos will be migrated and rebuilt using a combination of the logo, image and text components to recreate the complete look of the previous logo. If you want to edit a part of this element, click on the component for the element and select the Edit tab that appears.
If you want to know more about the logo component, check out our guide on managing your logo in Website Builder.
Slider animations
The slider component will be converted into the image slider component in Website Builder. The image slider does not support all the animation variants that were available at SimpleSite, but it is possible to have a fade-in effect added. Therefore, all image slides will have this effect incorporated between shifts instead.
